What’s on my Pocket PC
Occasionally, someone will express enough interest in my Pocket PC to ask what I can do with it or what software I have installed on it. Well, to satisfy that curiosity, I’ve compiled the following list of third-party software which reflects what’s currently installed on my HP iPAQ hx4700 XV6700. I’m not bothering to mention apps that are included as part of the Pocket PC.
List revised on 2007-12-30
Operating System
- Unofficial Windows Mobile 6 ROM courtesy of HelmiC and a lot of other talented people. This thing totally rocks with Windows Mobile 6 and it works so well that it’s really hard to believe it isn’t an official ROM. With the “kitchen” I can make a custom ROM that includes only the features I want. When I eventually replace the XV6700, it’s going to be a bummer to be stuck with what the OEM puts out. Most of the Windows Mobile 6 devices have an older revision of the OS than what I’m running now and are junked up with all kinds of useless crap that the carriers think we want.
Apps and Utilities
- Resco Explorer 2007
- PhatWare PhatPad v4.4
- Illium Software ListPro v5
- Iambic (formerly Two Peaks Software) Vehicle Manager
- Omega One 1-Calc
Internet and Communication
- Skype for Windows Mobile
- Microsoft Live Search for Mobile
Games
- Astraware Bejeweled 2
- Astraware Boardgames
- Astraware Chuzzle
- Astraware Sudoku
- pocketSand

Hello Dave,
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask a question. I am trying to do a web application for my pocket pc (HP ipaq 4155) which has PIE version 4.1. I saw the spec and found that it supports CSS but my code does not work.
I read in one of the forums that you have coded in CSS for your own PDA. Can you guide me? Did you install anything new?
This is the piece of code that does not work.
Thank you
Anitha

The style sheet you included in your comment is stripped out of the Web site so it doesn’t interfere with the page display. It was included in the e-mailed copy that I received, however, and I will reply to you via e-mail.
Oh, this is a perfectly fine place to ask questions; that’s why the comment feature is here!

hey,
I wonder what does the spb pocket plus v3 build 3888 do, that the regular v3 do?

It’s just a very minor revision that might add backlight control for new devices or something along those lines. If you don’t have the build — you can check in the About box from the Pocket Plus Settings screen — and everything is working, I wouldn’t bother updating until the next point release such as v3.1.
