Well, after having my installation of PHP-Nuke hacked, I’ve decided to dump that software entirely, and am giving WordPress a try. I’ll be republishing content from the previous site incarnation over the next few days as I have time, so if you’ve been here before or subscribe to the RSS feed, you may see a lot of repeated information. Sorry about that.
I’ll be monitoring the server’s error logs and creating redirections as I add content back. If I see failed links from other sites, I’ll make sure to add a redirect to the new location.
As an aside, for anyone running a site with PHP-Nuke, be sure to stay up to date on the tons of patches for both that and phpBB. With 5-10 new vulnerabilities discovered each week, that’s a lot of patching. I didn’t keep up with it because it was such a pain in the ass, and I got hacked.
Looks nice. Sorry you got hacked.
Glad you are back up and running. Hope this new software works out for you.
Yeah, I really do like WordPress quite a bit. It’s nice to have a system that was designed from the ground up to be standards-compliant. Pages load quickly and look virtually the same in any browser. There’s even an add-in that someone created that auto-detects mobile browsers and presents a version of the site tailored to smaller screens. I haven’t tried posting anything long like the write-up for my Pocket IE Start Page project, but multi-page posts are pretty painless to create. We’ll see!
Nice work Dave. You’ve got me thinking of using WordPress for my blog.
